Baby Blessing

Our baby had the most beautiful baby blessing yesterday. And he behaved perfectly. He's such a great little guy! Thanks to eveyone who came for the special event!

Hokies!

College football is here! The season's first Virginia Tech game was Saturday and Hot Cup's parents had given our baby his first VT outfit. So he was ready to watch the game with his dad!

Chocolate, Caramel and Coconut

I was looking at pictures from the beach and saw these photos I took of the yummy Samoas Bars I made for the trip.  Now I really really really want some.  They're so good!  Make some for yourself and you'll understand.

(Thanks for the recipe suggestion DeMom :)

Pictures of our baby's first beach trip coming soon!

4 Months!

He's four months! 13 lb 15.8 oz and 27 inches. That's the 35th percentile for weight and the 95th+ percentile for height!

He really loves his pacifier. When I hold it a few feet away from him and go toward his mouth he'll open wide. He loves taking it out and playing with it but can't always get it back in right. And when he does he doesn't know how to let go with his hands so he unintentionally pulls it back out. The pacifier can be helpful sometimes when I'm getting him to sleep. And occasionally when he wakes up in the night he just needs me to pop it in and then he'll go back to sleep (yay!) He most often sleeps without it, and I like that he's not totally dependent.

He likes tummy time (as you know because the last post was about that) and he likes sitting up. I think in both cases he enjoys the view. On his tummy and even on his back he wiggles himself around and sort of rotates. He's just playing with his hands and legs and gets turned around. He likes playing with his hands and fingers and sticking them in his mouth and he likes kicking his feet and crossing them. He's learning to sit up with some help. Usually I just support him myself, but we also find other ways to have him supported.

For a couple weeks now he's been able to turn over. He's really good at getting from his tummy to his back. For a while he was really trying to turn from his back to his tummy, but he's been less determined this last week. He likes back time too.

This is an effort to turn onto his belly. He's so close!

And this is him turning onto his back.

He knows how to pull the ring on the frog so that it plays the song. And he likes to sit on my lap at the piano and pound the keys. He likes when I read to him and prefers board books so he can help turn the pages.

Playing the frog song.

He's just as cute and fun and smiley as always. And he's got the best little giggle. I'm so lucky to be his mom!

Tummy Time

I wasn't very good at making him do Tummy Time a lot when he didn't like it, but now that he loves it we do it several times a day.

Looking back ...

In His Room

He's been sleeping in his own room for over a week now. It was hard for me to do because I love having him in the bassinet by the bed, but he's getting big and I'm sure he appreciates having more space.

7/21 & 7/23

Here's his room. It would be fun to decorate it, but I'm having a hard time deciding how so it might stay like this for a while.
