Breastfeeding

I should have done a post about breastfeeding a long time ago because I love it. Love love love it. I am so delighted that I've been able to feed my baby in this way. He's such a cute little eater and I miss the days when he would eat every couple of hours. We're down to like 3 times a day and that's really sad for me.

UPDATE: After a week or two of insisting on only three times a day (+middle of night), he decided that a little drink another once or twice a day would be nice. Yay.

Crawling!

Our baby has been inching forward on his hands and knees over the last couple weeks. Wednesday was the first he went more than a foot, and he went several - he has it mastered now!


He still does his army crawl a lot too. In this video he does both!


He loves his little toy car and his animal train. I think they are the two toys that encouraged him to move the most. In this picture from a week ago he had just gone half way across the room while pushing the little red car. And it got him to his train!

Shapes and Colors Book

I finally finished the board book I've been working on! I wanted to make our baby some board books since before he was born but I wasn't sure how to do it. Then when I saw he loved books I wanted to even more. When I was trying to figure out the best way to do it I stumbled upon www.barebooks.com. I ordered some in every size, as well as some bare puzzles, and once he is old enough to use markers or crayons I think he'll have fun making some himself.

Since I pretty much finished the book before I found that website, I'd made it too long and had to cut a couple of pages. I chose to cut the diamond and the square / purple and gray.

To make the book I just printed the pages onto Avery full sheet labels, cut them to size, and put them on. A day later I saw that the cover was already starting to smudge (mostly the spine and the back, so thankfully not much on the front) so I covered it with contact paper. Maybe I should do that throughout the book but I think I'll wait and see. The pages won't be handled as much as the cover so they might be okay.

These two are probably my favorite.


Our baby really seems to like his book :) It's new to him though so hopefully he'll still like it later.

I have a couple, more personalized ideas for board books that I'm excited about. Hopefully they don't take me as long as this one did.

There we go. This is the first one I took and he did that smile on his own. Does my baby know to smile for the camera?

A month ago our baby was just starting to get up on his knees. Now he does it all the time. He's still working on crawling but he sure is great about getting around. And he loves that he can get to what he wants. He sort of pulls himself along, in an army-crawl sort of way, for up to a few feet at a time.

When he wants our attention for anything (help sitting up, help getting to a toy, to be held, to eat, to play with him, etc.) he gets on his tummy and with his feet and hands off the floor pounds the floor with his right palm. (He's been doing that longer than just a month.) He knows how to get what he wants!


His third tooth came in with the New Year. And I expect the fourth will break through soon.

Baby's First Christmas

We stayed at my parents' Christmas Eve and celebrated our baby's first Christmas there. Christmas was so fun with our little guy!

Christmas Day

Baby is waiting for everyone else to wake up. He doesn't know what's about to happen so he doesn't mind. He's having fun playing with the Christmas tree with daddy.

Then back to my parents to open more presents. He loves all his new toys. My kid is too cute.
