Fun Photos

Yesterday I took a bunch of photos of my preschooler for a little project that might be shared here another day.  (I haven't decided whether I'm really going to do it, but I have awesome photos for it if I do!)  But today I'm just going to show you that we had fun :)  Love him!

West Virginia

We took a few days during spring break to visit my brother-in-law and his family in West Virginia. Their first baby was 2 weeks old. We were excited to meet the little guy and the boys loved seeing their newest baby cousin.

Tuesday
We arrived Tuesday evening and got to visit with baby and mom for a little while (dad was working).


The last picture was taken Friday morning before we left town. Our preschooler hadn't had a chance to hold him and really wanted to even though he was crying. I suggested he sing Twinkle Twinkle Little Star to him; so he held him and sang and loved it and didn't mind one bit that the crying didn't stop. It was really sweet.

Wednesday
We started off Wednesday with a Science Center.

Ice Cream!


Mini Golf! The boys have been asking to do mini golf so we thought we'd go :) It was difficult to keep up with toddler; so much energy in a space not designed for little explorers!


The one where you couldn't just follow the ball to the hole (because it had to go through a netted area) required a little assistance.


You'd think I'd be past photography mistakes like leaving half the people out of focus.  I'd waited patiently til we were at a hole where we could have the coal miner in the background without having the sun in everyone's eyes, and messed it up anyway.  They look like they're having fun though so that's good :)


My brother had these awesome number-bots when he was younger (still has a couple :) and I thought they'd make great potty-training rewards. Something cool enough to be motivating, but that also has multiple items so it can be used for more than one day, without having unrealistic goals of a single prize. Once he earns all 10 we'll go out for donuts, which the boys have been asking to do since our visit to Krispy Kreme in January.  He earned his first that Wednesday!


Thursday
We went to the zoo and right past the entrance was a peacock just wandering around on the path. I would have liked to attempt a better picture, but toddler kept chasing it.


We bought some feed at the entrance and could feed most the animals. This is the only pic I have of them feeding an animal through a tube and you can barely see it. But there's a blue tube there that you put the food in for the animals.
I discovered quickly that toddler's hat was not going to stay on his head if faced forward as it would get knocked off by fences.


Feeding the giraffe! Our preschooler didn't actually feed the giraffe but I have several pictures like this, so he was quite a tease.

Of course they had plenty of farm animals to feed. I love preschooler's I don't want to feed them look. After this he did end up feeding one and it went well, but didn't care to repeat it.


I love seeing this little one run around. And he loves to run around.  And he loves collecting as many rocks as possible.


He got tired though and had a little nap. Biggest brother insisted on pushing the stroller the whole time.

We went to a playground and I chased toddler while my husband and his brother kept up with the big kids.


Our preschooler wanted to play on this piece of equipment with his uncle and was explaining his rules. I thought his explanation was cute and went to record some of it but was too late. But here's the implementation.




It's hilarious how collecting and organizing - pretty much anything - is such serious business to toddlers.

Friday
Friday we spent some time at my brother-in-laws. They played Despicable Me, which our oldest refused to watch. There were parts our preschooler didn't like but he watched it and liked it overall. During the dancing at the very end I suggested he dance too and he did, a lot, it was very cute.  He enjoyed the minions and afterword would talk about Gru's "cousins."

Then we took our long drive home and that evening he earned another bot!


The boys are pleased that we have another trip to see them already planned. It will be a shorter one but they're looking forward to seeing their baby cousin again!
