My little guy has never enjoyed getting his hands dirty. A big part of me wants to relish this as long as possible, but another part of me wants him to give him new things to experience, and that will often mean encouraging him to get a little dirty.
A week or so ago I whipped up some leftover whipping cream. He's never been one to put everything in his mouth so I didn't bother to sweeten it. But I did add a touch of blue food coloring, for fun.
It took a little while for him to get into it.
I tried to demonstrate but he was so not interested.
He even gave me his fake cry.
I got out a spoon so he wouldn't have to use his hands but he still didn't care.
After about 10 minutes I was ready to give up, but then he picked up a spoon!
And pretty soon he even used his fingers.
Assessing the damage.
And then the other hand came out!
This is where I realized moving his high chair to the not-carpeted kitchen might have been a good idea. Oh well.
In the end I think he was okay with the activity.
I think he even had fun :)
And he did take one little taste.
And decided to make sure there was plenty on his overalls.
And hair, neck, and shirt.
