Jan & Feb

It seems like we always had someone sick over here during the first couple months this year.  So if someone looks like they were sick in a pic, they probably were!

This week was my turn to teach preschool and the theme we're on is music, so there's also been more music around here lately.  My 2 lessons are "instruments" and "singing" so I've been playing and making instruments and making sure I know the words to songs.  Baby brother has loved it.  He's tested all the instruments and was so happy when I finally figured out how I could let him participate with the ukulele and trumpet.  Here he is with a drum and the bells.

We had salmon for dinner a couple times and both the boys loved it.  Our preschooler called it the "fish that has no mouth."  I told him they cut it off at the store and he started calling it the "fish that has no mouth, they cut it off at the store."  Turns out the "fish that have mouths" are goldfish crackers.  There's been a couple other times where they've both enjoyed the main course and that's happy.  Baby mastered the spoon.

Big brother continues with his love of letters and numbers.  One Saturday he counted to 500 and I'm sure he could have kept going.  He keeps track of the time and when things happen; and likes to tell us what letter things start with, or what letter he thinks they start with.  He talks a lot.  His preschool teachers tell me he's been talking more too.  He'd been saying "um hm" for yes but recently started saying "yeah" instead.  He says it with a Swedish accent and it always makes me smile.  He's loves to be contrary.  He is an expert negotiator.

He likes to procrastinate diaper changes, but if I tell him he doesn't need any more diaper changes and I'll just get his underpants so he can use the potty instead, then he's suddenly much more cooperative.

At the beginning of February he decided he wanted to sleep in the twin bed in his baby brother's room.  I think it had something to do with there being more room for his animals, but I don't really know why.  I like it because I think it's fun for them to be in there together.  We hear them talking and laughing together at night and in the morning.  Big brother still naps in his own room.

Decorating Valentines cupcakes with preschool friends.

The boys play together more so that's fun.  It's best if it's a toy big brother isn't too particular about.  Sometimes big brother helps his little brother figure things out and it's super cute.

Our baby is always happy, laughing, and excited. He turned 18 months on January 23rd!  With being sick so much (and a couple snow days) he's only been to Nursery once.  I stayed and he followed me around.  (Big brother has been to Primary a couple of times.  I don't really know how he feels about it so it must at least be okay.)

Our baby boy has grown so much in these couple months!
He loves
- to climb into my lap.
- to look out the window to see daddy drive away, or whatever else is happening out there.
- playing with cereal boxes, empty containers, and cars.
- playing with the microwave on the play kitchen, so we keep a stool there now so he can do it himself.
- figuring things out.
- the Mega Bloks Thomas set that he got for Christmas (both boys love it and big brother likes to be the boss of it), the trains are blocks that come apart and he loves taking them on and off the wheels blok, and putting the trains in their shed and down the track.
- to do whatever big brother is doing, he puts his hand on the rail when I carry him on the stairs, he imitates big brother brushing teeth and pretends to spit after, he now has 3 animals in his crib instead of just one and he was super excited about it, he's interested in playdough, though hasn't been ready to create with it.  He'd been playing with the playdough animals I'd made and making animal noises, but by the time I thought to get the camera he was tired of it, maybe he'll like it better when he's not sick.  Big brother saw I wasn't having any luck getting baby interested again so he tried to help.

He still loves peek-a-boo, books, and playing with daddy!

> Kisses!
> He stole my banana!

Playing while big brother is at preschool. When he was new at climbing on the futon he must have thought it was hilarious because he'd laugh so much every time.

Bunnies at my cousins'.

Baby's naptime during a snowy Saturday. Our preschooler got a toy monster truck for Christmas. It came with playdough and molds for cars and he loves it. And now he also loves watching monster truck videos with daddy. The pic is of an animated one but they usually watch videos of real ones.

He loves hats!  (He's more often laughing and jumping on the couch during scripture time.)
