Hello Again

I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas! My roommates all visited their families so I've had the place to myself this last week. I love my roommates and I don't want to live alone, but there's something about having the place to myself for a bit that I really like.

I've been at my parent's some, which is always nice. I was there yesterday because my baby sister turned 12. Happy Birthday! Here's the birthday girl. She's such a cutie.

I keep wondering if Despair is ever going to remove Motivate Me.

Seriously?

Genie Francis played Laura on the ABC daytime soap opera "General Hospital," and her fairy-tale wedding to Luke riveted 30 million viewers in 1981 and landed the couple on the cover of Newsweek magazine.

Now Francis is apologizing for suddenly quitting the show the following year.

"I'm sorry for leaving you so abruptly, for not taking into account the feelings of the people who helped Laura truly take on a life of her own," the 45-year-old actress said in a statement Thursday from the Hallmark Channel. "It was the decision of a young, impetuous girl, and the woman she has become asks for your forgiveness."

I realize that this was huge for GH, and although I wasn’t watching [or born yet] then, I see how it impacts the story today. [I think they will forever capitalize on that, and why shouldn't they?] But she needs to apologize? Really? 25 years later she’s still got people mad at her about this? Move on.

I could understand if she were to say it was a presonal regret of hers or something.

Anyway, I choose not to believe it was a ploy to get a headline that would reach GH fans so they'd tune into her Hallmark Channel movie.

Also: Kyle XY returns with the 2nd half of season 2 on January 14th.

Lunch

The shameful truth is I nearly never pack a lunch for my workday. Over the last 13 months of working at 14 & K I've become somewhat of a regular at a couple local places. There are quite a few little restaurants and they all get their turn, but these places have guaranteed yummy food, so they see me often.

Juice Joint
At one point the owner knew my name, although he seems to have forgotten it.
Their menu offers variety so I can go there often and not feel like I eat the same thing every day. Plus it's all delicious, natural, and healthy.
Some of my favorites: Chicken Spinach Salad Wrap, Veggie Stir-fry, Grilled Salmon Salad [dressing on the side].
Don't forget to consider the day's specials. And order a fresh vegetable or fruit juice!

Corner Bakery
My lunch today was free. You don't often see the manager at the register, but today he was and he didn't charge me because he recognized me as a regular. I much appreciate free food.
They also have a variety on their menu, including excellent seasonal options. If you haven't been, they're a lot like Panera. Salads, Sandwiches, Paninis, Soups, Pastas. And plenty of baked goods if you're in the mood for a little treat.

Broken

Just when I get a handle on the whole carpal tunnel thing [maybe I'm just getting used to it] … I strained my back today.

At work I took a 45 pound box of books to the post office and made the mistake of lifting it onto the counter. If a 45 pound box doesn’t sound heavy to you, then maybe you don’t know how thin I am.

Anyway, I spent the next few hours getting our holiday cards ready to go [I’ve got such a glamorous job] and donating rice before skipping out early to get home.

My doctor didn’t return my phone call so the only thing I know to do is get rest.
