My Toddler

I'm going through my January pics for a January post and thought these could be a post of their own.

Our 2nd child is a fun little guy!

He loves his mama bear. But he wasn't really in the mood for pictures.

So I had him join me on the couch and that helped.
He's much better at this than I am - a selection of expressions, whereas I've got the same boring one every time :P

Grandpa

My mom's dad left this life on the morning of February 2nd.  He lived 95 years and was married to my lovely Grandma for 71 of them.  He loves his family, his Savior, and nature and the outdoors.  Here's his very well written obituary.  He's the most kind and loving man.  And very fun, I love his laugh, smile, and hugs.  I'm so grateful for him.  Here are a few favorite pictures. Love you Grandpa!

1988, not long before we moved to Virginia.

1991 my grandparents visited when my sister was born, I loved playing Memory with him!

2008 Family Reunion
Hanna Utah, where he grew up.

With one of his brothers.

These 3 pictures, from their home in St George in 2009, I took off my mom's camera a while back ... I wasn't there.
(I don't have a picture of their Cedar City yard, which he kept super beautiful, I remember it very well.)

2012 at my sister's wedding.

2013 with his family, his lovely bride, playing bingo, and learning a dance with his grandkids & great grandkids.

2014 with my firstborn.
This trip is the last I would see Grandpa in this life. My second born met him during this visit but unfortunately I don't have a picture of them together.

Snowed In

Our first real snow this year was about 2.5 feet.  It started in the afternoon of Friday the 22nd and snowed until late evening on the 23rd.  Hot Cup came home from work early on the 22nd and we just stayed home for a few days.  The plow came Monday the 25th and Hot Cup returned to work on the 26th.  I enjoyed being stuck together for a few days :)

The 22nd was my birthday.  It was fun to be at home with my family, and to have this delicious dulce de leche gelato my husband made :)

The morning of the 23rd.  Round 1 of snow clearing.
Our toddler watching the neighbors and their shovels and snowblowers.
Hot Cup cleaning off his car.

The boys went out with their dad, here's my view through the storm door.  They're throwing snow at each other.

Me and my indoor buddy.

I stepped out to take a few pictures and they were discussing it being time to come in. It was still the middle of a cold and windy blizzard.

Our preschooler wouldn't cooperate for a picture because he didn't want to come in.

Cozy by the fire.

That evening, it's still snowing.

The 24th. Me with my indoor buddy again.

Clearing off the van.

On top of the snow.

He's driving Francesco in the 2nd picture. Both boys loved driving and making tracks on the snowy sidewalk.

Snowball fight!

We've been playing games a lot lately, not just when we're snowed in.  The boys got 6 new ones for Christmas from their Colorado Aunt & family and they love them!
After we were done with Puppy Pursuit our toddler put them in the tree. I thought it was cute. (The tree did finally get put away.)

We were bundling up to go back outside after quiet/nap time when our neighbor knocked on the door to see if we wanted to borrow a couple of sleds. We weren't sure if our boys were ready but we accepted and went to the small hill behind our house.  Our preschooler loved going down on our laps.  Our toddler declined.

The 25th.
They made a snowman, I didn't see it happen because I was inside, but it was a nice smaller one that sat on top of the deep snow for a couple days.
I thought our baby might appreciate a trip outside, he loves going out in the fresh air.  I tried on the 24th but the sun was too bright, and with white snow everywhere there wasn't any way to avoid it.  I tried again on the 25th at sunset and he liked it.
He fell asleep curled up on my chest twice while we were snowed in!  (Not his usual choice.)  Super love!

The 26th Hot Cup went back to work but we still had the sleds and went sledding. Our toddler decided he loves sledding too, and our preschooler decided to go down by himself. We went sledding a lot over the next few days.
