A couple days into the new year our toddler's blue pacifier got a rip in it. He really wanted it but understood when we told him it was broken and we couldn't fix it. He has a couple others but had only used the blue one for quite a while and didn't want a different one. He's been without one for a couple weeks now and I love how it was his decision and he didn't get upset about it.
Btw, "wow" is his term for pacifier. That's not an exclamation.

Congratulations! A whole new frontier. Kai decided he was too old for a pacifier at just about the same age.
