Colorado

& Stairs & Dishwashers & Airplanes

My husband's sister and her family live in Colorado so we started our vacation by visiting them for a few days. Her three kids are 7, 4, and 1. The oldest was determined to be the "nice older cousin" and was super sweet to our toddler the whole time. Since our boy isn't really talking much yet it might not have been quite what he expected, but he was amazing and our little guy really seemed to enjoy it.

Our baby loved chasing after the one year old girl. She wasn't so sure about that and usually found refuge behind her mom. Our baby loves to hit people in the face so it was probably just as well.

Our baby also decided it was time for some climbing and attempted stairs for the first time. He would do stairs every other place we went too (including the full staircase at the cabin at the reunion). And he surprised me by climbing into their dishwasher and would have liked if I'd let him on his great grandparents dishwasher too.

For the obvious reason, with all his stair climbing this is the only picture I attempted.

It'd been four years, but Hot Cup's bike of choice was still there.

Our toddler loved the fire truck!

Here he is with his oldest cousin who is giving quite an imaginative narration of what they're doing as they race back and forth across the deck. I wish I remembered more but it was something about surfing and a volcano.

One day while the oldest was in school we visited a park to feed the fish and play on the playground. And ended up feeding some chipmunks too.

(Our toddler pushing his dad down the slide.)

I guess that when their other cousins come they get to have donuts for breakfast. Who are we to argue with traditions? Our toddler just licked the chocolate off the top though, the stinker.

We went to a fun Victorian-era atmosphered pizza place (Fargo's). I thought this was a nice mid-chew pic.

With Colorado being our first stop and a new time zone the boys woke up especially early. I'm sure our firstborn was thrilled to have that extra time in the playroom.

Our last day there we went to an amusement park called The North Pole.

This must have been our first ride because I took pictures of everyone.

On the train. How is it that the photographer is the only one not looking at the camera? I fail.

Brothers having fun rocking back and forth.

All the kids loved feeding the reindeer.  There is no pic, sorry, my hand was covered in reindeer food and saliva.

I didn't realize until putting this post together that I cut the "North" off on the cousins picture. Oops. At least I got it on this cute pic of their family. Thanks for having us guys!!

We flew standby from Colorado Springs to Salt Lake City. The Colorado Springs airport is small and whatever the opposite of crowded is. We were probably to the gate in 5 minutes and could have gotten there twice as fast if all the employees who helped us hadn't been so talkative, haha.  It's a great way to fly!

The only flight I took pics on was the first one - from Baltimore to Denver. Our toddler enjoyed having the tablet on the plane. Our baby slept in my arms for half of the first two flights and maybe an hour of the third one (going home). Toward the end of the first flight I got up for a minute and invited our toddler to take the window seat while I was gone. He didn't want to give it up and insisted on the window seat on our later flights too. Cutie. Overall I'd say both our boys were pretty great travelers.
