August

I covered the first week of August in the last post.  Aug 20 - Sept 1 we were out of town so I'll post about that later.  But here's a general August post and pictures from that week in between everything.  It can also be considered our baby's 13 month post, I won't continue with monthly posts now that he's a year since I post every month anyway.

Our baby is super active, super social, super playful, super cute, and super funny.  He crawls on his knees and stands up to anything and everything.  He's super fast and is always everywhere.

My evidence that he walks along furniture:

He decided pretty much as soon as we left on our trip that he wanted to climb stairs, but hasn't cared about it since we got home except maybe if I go up them without him.  Perhaps ours are just out of the way enough to not be as enticing as everyone else's.  Or he just knows there's nothing up there that he wants.

He's found joy in imitating others and has also discovered new games on his own.  He loves peek-a-boo and how fun his voice sounds when he uses his fists (or my chin) to make an indian sound.

He loves looking at books.  One of his favorite toys is a steering wheel/dashboard vtech thing that we got at consignment 3 years ago.  It's supposed to attach to a bike or something but we don't have that part.  He pushes it around the house anyway though while crawling.  He's discovered the fun of putting little toys inside containers.  He still loves being in his jumperoo, and likes to crawl up to it and under it to give it a good shake, to set off the music and lights.

He's always happy and doesn't need much reason to laugh.

He's stopped complaining the whole time we brush his teeth and only complains when we do the top, which is where he's getting more teeth so it must hurt a little.  While on our trip he cut tooth #5 and I think #6 isn't far behind.

We had a little birthday celebration for our baby and his second cousin with my cousin's family.  My mom made a gluten-free cake that was surprisingly delicious.  Just ask the birthday boy!

His love of fruit and vegetables is on hold but he's a pretty good eater otherwise.

He hasn't combined chili & peek-a-boo.  Our firstborn was 17 months when he decided to do that.  Big brother's a little more sophisticated in his chili eating now.

Whenever we see a vehicle parked on the grass our toddler tells me how it's not supposed to be there and that only lawnmowers go on grass.

Sometimes I hear my toddler singing (Wheels on the Bus or the ABCs) or counting in his bedroom when he goes down for a nap.  He didn't do it on our trip (understandable) but I'm hoping it comes back :)

I tried to get him to do this a while ago and he didn't want to.  But one day he saw the one I'd made and asked to do it.  A thumbprint caterpillar!

Hot Cup got a tablet this month, it's been a lot of fun for him and our big boy.

Us preschool moms split up the work that needed to be done for this preschool board.  My job was the schoolhouse so here's my little preschooler testing it out.  The windows have little transparent tabs on them so they're easy to open and close.

Here's the backside before it was complete - when I was picking a window.  I was deciding the best way to make a slider thing when my husband suggested report cover bindings.  He cut a few of them in half for me and it worked perfectly!
