We stopped by my dad's brother's on the way. They were having a little get together of the three brothers and their wives but let us visit a bit and join them for dinner. It was fun to see them. We stayed in their home the nights of the reunion (they live only 15 minutes away) and loved visiting with them then too.
We drove down on Wednesday in order to spend some time with my grandparents before everyone arrived for the reunion on Friday. I'm so glad we did, I loved being with them. They were both super sweet to my boys and seemed to appreciate having little ones there. Their short term memory is fading so we had some conversations several times. When possible I'd try to bring something new into the conversation each time around and it was fun to learn more about them that way. Sometimes there's more to a story than you can really explore with just one go :) I didn't end up getting a picture of my little family with them so am disappointed in myself for that.
Here's our toddler having fun with his Great Grandpa & his Grandpa. Both my boys love my dad! Before I took this second picture my dad had been resting in the chair and my toddler came to me and indicated he wanted to play with him. I said I was sure that would be fine and that he could touch grandpa gently to get his attention. That didn't work so I told him I thought it would be okay if he just climbed up onto his lap. So he went to do that and (I grabbed my camera and) this is when my dad saw that he was there for him. I love it :)

Hot Cup found a lizard in the sun room! (And took it outside of course.)

Baby had fun there too.

The reunion was at the SUU Mountain Center. There were lots of fun activities to participate in and of course lots of family to catch up with!
Our baby had fun. Not long after we arrived we found the bubbles the host family left on the deck for people to use and he loved crawling all over the deck chasing bubbles. He decided hands and feet made for better deck crawling than hands and knees. He loved playing in the dining area, crawling (hands and feet again) and standing up to the chairs. He is quite attached to me but would be happy in the arms of others so long as (1) he knew them, (2) I wasn't in sight, and (3) they were outside.
My mom making magnets. Hot Cup playing bingo.

It didn't take long for our toddler to discover the thing with wheels.

Our toddler spent a lot of time with his dad.
Throwing rocks on the little hike they took together.
Blowing bubbles.
Reading a Thomas book they found in the cabin.
Playing with rocks.

They made that star together, but later our boy decided to use the rocks to make a truck, trailer, & car.

Pics I took during the carnival-style games.

The smallest shirt size they made was our toddler's size. So it didn't make much sense to get our baby that size cause when he's big enough for it he'll have the one we got for his big brother. I'd thought about making him one and Friday I finally did.
There's a few pics in this post where you can kinda see the design on the front of the shirt, and I pretty much made baby's to be the same. But I don't have a good shot of the back. The back had a tree with my grandparents at the bottom and eight leaves, each representing one of their kids, and the number of people in each family (total of 203!) Here's a slightly out of focus shot of my brother and his wife watching people play horseshoes where you can kinda see it.

My baby nephew received his baby blessing during our Sunday church service so that was really special.

And after the service we took a big group photo. There were 120 people at the reunion this year.

Baby having some auntie time. He doesn't realize he's not going to see her again until Christmas!

Sunday evening they held an open house for my grandparents' anniversary. Our flight was leaving Monday morning so we missed out on it in order to drive up to Salt Lake and be near the airport. We stayed in a room with two queen beds so it was our toddler with his dad and me with the baby. It was late and we were all tired so it was fun to lay there and watch my baby decide how to fall asleep. The position he picked was holding both my cheeks and propping his foot up on my side. I just about melted, it was the perfect way to end our trip.
