I probably don't write down enough, but I did these. Some here and some in emails or texts.
6/16
Hot Cup isn't home and the boys are having the last two popsicles for dessert.
Preschooler: What you have for dessert mommy?
Me: I'm okay, I don't need dessert every day.
P: looks confused
M: I had the rest of the potatoes. Was that dinner or dessert?
P: It was pretending to be dessert.
7/24
Looking at an animation of a giraffe in sunglasses.
P: That giraffe is wearing sunglasses.
M: Look at that, he is.
P: Do giraffes wear sunglasses, mommy?
M: Real giraffes? No. They were just being silly.
P: That is a real giraffe mommy.
M: Oh.
Frequent variations, in different contexts.
P: Where are they going?
M: I don't know.
P: Where are they going?
M: Where do you think they're going?
P: I don't know. Where are they going?
M: Maybe they're going to work. Or the grocery store.
P: Maybe not.
7/30
First thing in the morning.
M: Do you remember what's happening today?
P: Grandma's coming.
M: Yep.
P: When?
M: Probably about 10:30.
P: Hmmm, that's too long, how about 9:20?
8/3
We find a package on the porch addressed to daddy.
P: Is it a toy for daddy?
M: Maybe, I don't know, you'll have to wait and ask him.
P: Daddy's 34.
M: No, daddy's still 33.
P: Why'd he get that?
8/9
While getting in the van to go to church he tells me he doesn't like primary.
I ask him why and he says because there are no toys.
I explain that when you're old enough to listen to your teacher you get to go to primary.
And that when his little brother is old enough to listen to a teacher he'll go to primary too (rather than the nursery where there's toys).
P: When [my little brother] is bigger he can sit by me in primary.
M: That's really sweet, I'm sure he'll want to sit with his big brother.
P: I love [my little brother].
It's not unusual for him to express love for his brothers, but it's always fun to hear :)
On Saturday June 27th we decided to drive out to Bishop Castle. This is
one of those "mini" Colorado tourist stops that I have heard about for
