Yesterday we had family over to celebrate our little guy's 2nd birthday! Before everyone came I'd reminded myself to get pictures of the guests too, but true to habit my pictures are all of my boy. We were joined by my parents, my (17 year old) baby sister, Hot Cup's mom, and my cousin, his wife, and their four boys.
He seemed to love his little party! After dinner (Hot Cup smoked beef & chicken on the grill & I made a couple of salads. Our little guy's dinner was basically green peppers, olives and feta and he gobbled it up!) he opened his presents. He enjoyed the unwrapping but had a difficult time understanding why we kept having him open another gift before he could play with what he'd already opened, and was happy with what he found inside each time.
We'll have to teach him how to use the magnifying glass, but it's fun to see him hold it right up to his eye, like Curious George does during the theme song. (I like this pic cause he's smashing his nose too :)
Then we took him outside to see his last gift that Hot Cup had set up earlier ... a water table! He loves playing with water and we think he is going to love it!
And of course we had cake and ice cream! (Hot Cup made lemon sherbet & lime sherbet, yum!) He blew out both candles all by himself. It would have made an incredibly adorable picture but I was too busy enjoying it to take one. He loved the cake but I asked him to wait to touch it until after we sang to him (I should have just let him do what he wanted ... oh well). Then I told him he could and he immediately ate a bunch of wheels. Haha. See how he added his car to the end of the train? So cute. (I bought gummy worms to connect all the cars, and had thought to make a train track with frosting, but didn't end up doing either.)

Sounds like a fun party! Very cute cake by the way! And we have that exact same sand and water table! Our boys love it....too bad it's only nice enough out to use it 4 months of the year. Happy Birthday Zachary!
