Anyway, our toddler did okay saying goodbye to daddy, but when he was resistant to leaving the airport without him and then kept asking about him, I decided I'd do something so we could mark the days until he returned. So during his nap that first day I made a little calendar for us.

We didn't mark everything, and didn't do anything really special (besides visiting my parents) but it was fun to do and our toddler understood and I'm sure it helped him deal with not seeing his dad for a week. We talked with him a couple times a day though, so that was nice.
It was fun to pick daddy up after he went on the "blue and red plane" on day 8. When we spotted him I told our toddler to go give him a hug and that's all he needed to hear to go running to his dad. It was pretty sweet. Later he had fun seeing all the little toys daddy brought home.
These are all cell phone pics except the one from Day 2.
Day 1
In the 40 minutes we were at the airplane observation park near the airport, no airplanes were very close so that was a little disappointing.

Day 2
The crane truck is putting the engine back on the track. The sons of a friend who just moved away would always play that when they came over.

Day 5
Our boys watching me load a few things into the van to go to Grandma & Grandpas. Our toddler is bouncing up and down and patting his brother on the head.

Day 6
Building a block tower at Grandma & Grandpas.

Day 8
Riding his bike & a trip to the park.
